In one of my previous posts I made a video of my 6,000g profit making darkmoon cards. I ended up creating 14 cards which gave me 8 nobles, 4 prisms and 2 undeath.
It is now time again for the darkmoon faire and I have been stock piling up on snowfall inks and eternal lifes. However when I think back to my earlier success with creating cards I do realize that I got “lucky” since I ended up getting 8 nobles cards out of a possible 32 cards I could create, and those are the most profitable cards I could get.
I have enough mats to make 127 cards, which I’m predicting will give me 27,305g; but before I go ahead and craft the first card I want to share with you how I decide whether it is worth the investment and risk on my server to make the cards or just stick to Luke’s guide to make my gold.
Price of Darkmoon Card Decks
First you must determine the price of the final product. Each deck is made up of 8 cards and there are 4 different final darkmoon cards: Greatness, Death, Illusion and Berserker. Since you need 8 cards to craft the deck you can get the price of each card by dividing the completed deck by 8.
On my server the price for the following decks are as follows:
Darkmoon Card: Greatness = 5,000g (625g per card)
Darkmoon Card: Death = 1,000g (125g per card)
Darkmoon Card: Illusion= 600g (75g per card)
Darkmoon Card: Berserker= 300g ( 37.5g per card)
Price of Materials
Now that I know how much I can get from the final product I must see how much the crafting costs will be.
Materials of Darkmoon Card craft:
6 x Snowfall Inks = 12g each = 72g per craft
3 x Eternal Life = 28g each = 84g per craft
3 x Ink of the Sea = 2g each = 6g per craft
1 x Resilient Parchment = 0.5g per craft
Total cost = 162g 50s
Calculating the Profit
It costs 165g for each craft of a darkmoon card that has a chance to give us any of the 32 cards available. Keep in mind that only Nobles cards will give us profit while all the other cards will be at a loss:
Nobles Card = 625g – 162g = +463g
Undeath Card = 125g – 162g = -37g
Prisms Card = 75g – 162g = -87g
Chaos Card = 37g – 162g = -125g
In order to see whether to go through with this or not, you must average the price of each card to come up with the average value per craft.
625+125+75+37 = 862/4 = 215g per craft average.
215g(value) – 162g(cost) = 53g profit per craft.
Maximizing Profit
It is important to craft early on during the darkmoon faire so that you can sell/trade any cards that you have excess of for ones that you need to complete decks. After the faire is over the price of individual cards and incompleted decks drop in price for another month.
What you can do is that if you know your average price per card is say 125g per Undeath card, if you notice that particular card is selling for 150g or more on the auction house, put it up for 149g and you can maximize your profits instead of putting it towards a Darkmoon Card: Death.
Do this with all your extra cards unless you are very close to completing that deck, just be sure to not be left with too many spares.
Be sure to check back tomorrow when I show my results from crafting 127 Darkmoon Cards and how close my predictions are. I should end up with 32 cards from each deck, and a value of 27,305g total from all the cards. Subscribing to the RSS is the easiest way to be alerted of new posts.
