As I stated in an earlier post I wanted to focus more on gold making methods for beginners on how to attain that first couple thousand gold as fast as possible.
I am still on my path to hit the gold cap and it is my first priority, however it has come to the point where I’ve perfected my inscription business down to an hour and a half (including posting, canceling, milling, crafting and reposting before bed) which pulls in a steady 3,000g profit/day. This experiment will help me in the long run as I’ll have 2 additional professions to profit from daily.
So the first method I’m going to cover is the fastest way to make 10,000g on a new server if you have access to a Death Knight (which is available if you have a level 55+ on any other realm)
Set up and Rules
So that the methods I’m doing with the fresh deathknight can be followed by any player I am not mailing him any gold or bags, just whatever he starts with in Ebon Hold.
Strategy
I have a plan on what steps need to be accomplished to hit the goal of 10,000g.
- Level the DK to 58 (to get out of starting area)
- Teleport to Orgrimmar and pick up Herbalism and Mining
- Gather enough Herbs and Ores to get at least 300g to afford flying mount (Training is 250g and mount is 50g) This will make my journey to level 65 much faster.
- Once I have the mount, focus on leveling again up to level 65 so I can pick up Jewelcrafting and Enchanting. An alternative here that I am thinking of is to keep a close eye on my gold total. I know that it will take at least 2,000g to powerlevel JCing and if I find I am behind on this amount when I reach 62 I can go out and gather more and use the time while I’m sleeping/at work to gain rested experience to make better use of my time.
- At level 65 I’m going to drop herbalism and pick up Jewelcrafting. This is so that I can still farm materials needed for leveling JCing with mining and I can save the items I make while PLing Jewelcrafting to disenchant and put towards leveling enchanting basically for free.
Ideally I’d like to buy the JCing mats outright from the auction house but I may not be able to afford it so this is my fallback if I don’t have 2k gold. - When I have JCing and Enchanting both at 450 skill at level 65 I will then have to determine if it’s worth it to level up further to have access to the JCing Daily to get more recipes. This is something I’ll have to think about at level 65 and monitor my profit levels with the few recipes I gain at that level.
- Keep crafting with those two professions, with a little AH flipping inbetween and hit 5,000g then 10,000g while documenting all my sales and methods along the way.
Current Status
I have had quite the headstart already, I just hit level 60 last night and I’m currently at 646g in 10 hours of playtime. (played a couple nights while my old server Tich was unplayable)
All I’ve done so far was level from 55-58 in the start zone, I picked up herbalism and mining, ran around gathering in Durotar, hit 65 skill, went over to the Barrens and got up to 125 herbalism and 100 mining.
I listed the herbs/ore gathered on the AH to work towards getting 300g for the flying mount.
Then I worked on getting to 125 mining. 100 mining skill is quite a drag if you don’t have silver ore to smelt or any to buy on the AH. I had to go over to Hillsbrad Foothills and mine tin ore to hit 125 skill level. (You can see my setup and gathering macros in this video to see how I automate gathering both ore and herbs at the same time)
I am currently at 150 herb/125 mining, I then went and leveled to 60 in Outlands and bought my flying mount.
The next couple play sessions are going to be devoted to leveling and scanning the AH daily to get my auctioneer data reliable. I am planning on taking a break from leveling when I hit 62ish to do a little more mining/herbing in Arathi Highlands and get an extra 1-2k gold to give myself breathing room to power level Jewelcrafting.
I will keep you updated with the progress, you are welcome to follow my twitter account as I usually post mini updates and tweet from there while I’m playing.
Once this project is over it’ll be great to have a Jewelcrafting and Enchanting alt to incorporate in my daily gold making activities as I think this will triple my daily income and speed up the process to hit the gold cap and beyond

I’m starting a DK the same way. Focusing on leveling up Herbs and Mining (currently 277, 248). I’ve spent 280g buying big bags, I’m saving the herbs for now, and sales of the ore, stone, gems, and random greens has brought in over 800g. I haven’t killed a mob unless attacked since leaving the DK starting area.
I am kind of following this experiment myself with a DK alt. You say you sold the Ore rather than bars. I wondered how you were getting the mats for the JC powerlevel.
The wow professions guide specifies a lot of copper bars, so given you mined them all, did you keep the copper for levelling? Or sell it at market price then hope to snatch some underpriced bars later? Or does ore (taking into account the AH cut) sell for more than bars so its best to sell the ore then buy bars using the AH?
I found smelting the copper got me a lot of skill points, so I can access better areas, although I then loose the copper I would have mined to get those skill points through mining (and thus some gold).
Any advice appreciated
Hello…
Sorry for my noob question, but I really need to know!
Why u need to start with a DK? And why just in lvl 65? (Once I have the mount, focus on leveling again up to level 65 so I can pick up Jewelcrafting and Enchanting)
I ask u that because I dont have a char in 65 yet (34 right now), but I wish to up my gold asap. So I wish to know why u pick up the JC and Enchanting just in lvl 65 and not before?
So till then u recomend to have another profession, like minning and herb? (I have skinning and leather, but Im considering to change >> to minning and herb first and after to JC and Enc, like u said).
Just wanna know If u recommend me to wait till 65 to get JC en ENC and why?
TY in advance!!!!
you have to be lvl 65 to get jewelcrafting to 450
