I am happy to announce that I’ve hit the liquid gold cap of 214,748 gold, 36 silver, 48 copper. Although in my past gold progress updates you’ve seen that number much higher however that figure included the value of my inventory, I currently have the gold cap amount in gold coins on my character.
It has been a long journey, I started out back in September with less than 1k gold and no professions. I finished leveling Inscription on September 30th and then began the tedious task of doing my daily research for 2 months to finally have all the glyphs learned to start pulling in my profits.
During those 7 months a lot has happened to slow my process to hit the gold cap:
- Leveled a DK from 55-68, and went from nothing to 10k gold
- Experimented with a lot of the dailies to see which was the most profitable
- Tried different posting strategies (including dropping prices of all glyphs to a minimum) to bump out competitors
- Transferred servers as I wasn’t able to play for 9 days on my old one Tichondrious from server troubles
- Took an 8 day vacation in Cuba
- I have an additional 130k invested in inventory.
While I could of hit the gold cap faster if I didn’t experiment with all these different activities, I did so for the benefit of the blog to report back my findings.
I also have been slowly lowering my play time, mostly due to being in beta for Starcraft 2 and seeing if I could still maintain the same profit by carving out less profitable activities.
Here’s a chart of how much time I spent per day vs how much gold I made per day, the first couple months are low because I didn’t have many glyphs learned and wasn’t utilizing Jewelcrafting.
How I Made My Gold
The first 100k gold was solely from selling glyphs, vellums, offhands and darkmoon cards, I followed WoW Schools AH flipping guide and sold a little bit engineering ammo as well. After I completed the DK 10K project I added Jewelcrafting to the mix with about 8 cuts bought.
You can read how I make my gold in 3.3 for a detailed breakdown of all the gold making methods I utilized from October – February (72,000g made) and the profit margins from each.
At the beginning of April my presence in the glyph market started to fade as the huge investment of time in the glyph industry was really wearing down on me. To properly compete and get a lot of sales you need to do a cancel/repost cycle which entails collecting around 800 glyphs from your mail and reposting which usually takes an hour, that does not include crafting time. I found a pretty good cycle to do this which I detail in this gold addons video. I opted instead on focus a little more on jewelcrafting and to not cancel any glyph auctions at all but just repost whenever they expired.
So Where To Go From Here?…
I’m going to spend a little
as a little reward for finally hitting the gold cap. Maybe some BoE’s and a either a Mammoth or Bike.
I am driven to still continue earning and experimenting with new and different ways to make gold.
I have a list of projects I want to undertake and get more involved in the WoW Economy again and also try out something new that you guys can get involved with too. I will be announcing all the projects and future plans in a separate post later today or tomorrow so stay tuned!

Congratulations on reaching the cap in pure liquid.
Im looking forward to hearing about your future experiments and posts on this blog [which is the top 3 blogs i anticipate to read]
.-= anaalius´s last blog ..The final transfer. =-.
Ive learned a lot from your blogs. Others do the same, but you seemed to explain what it was your were actually doing and how to do it myself. Thanks for all the help. Congrats, and I look forward to your new projects!
Congratulations Kraklin, I just started reading your blog recently and it’s really quite amazing how you’ve been able to (overtime) decrease the amount that you play while increasing the amount that you make. Keep going! XD
.-= Raddom´s last blog ..Stopped Posting? =-.
Congratulations
I’m very happy i found your blog.
I too have hopes of hitting the Liquid cap, although I currently only have about 40k liquid and 10k in inventory, i’m building my empire, probably slower then you do, but i am. I also have a scribe @ max skill and i’m doing research to get all the glyphs. I’m probably to late to get into the mix, but i’m going to try my hand at it. Currently flipping has enabled me to make good money.
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
Is there a way to become like a member of your site, get my own little picture ect?
Keep those posts coming, and i’ll keep coming back.
Love your videos too, there is so much crap with people who SUCK at tutorial videos. you’rs are perfect for me
glad you like the blog
There are plans for a members only forum that’s currently in the works, but you can get your own image by making a Gravatar – http://en.gravatar.com/ which will show your image on most blogs (almost all wordpress ones).
Congratulations.
I am very surprised at your /played time. I thought that you played at least 4-5 hours on average when lvling your DK and his JC. Your income/played in may seems reasonable (although with current lvl of competition and information it’s not abnormal)
How can you explain almost 2k gold for 1,5 hour played in April?
Grats on the achievement – it’s a weird and fun feeling to have some gold come in and see those red letters come up over your toon’s head.
Cheers,
Mogul.
