gold progress update april 25

Hey everyone, it has now been a week since I’ve been back from Cuba and I’m getting close to hitting the gold cap (liquid) so I wanted to make an update.

It is time to get back into my gold making routine and it’s funny how a week away from the computer can make it seem foreign again! typing feels weird and you forget the tasks you did in WoW that was on autopilot previously.

Here’s the current stock of my inventory since I am even confused at what I have sitting around and what my goals are from here on out.

Gold Made Since Last Update

liquid gold amount april 25

My last update was on March 29 and I had a total worth of 260,000g.  127,965g inventory worth and 132,055 liquid gold.

It is now April 25, I didn’t play for 8 days so I have played for 17 days.

I am now at 305,398g which means I made 45,378g in that time and that equals 2,669g profit gained a day. The last profit/day was at 3,078g/day so my gold/day profit went down by 409g/day.

I would attribute the drop in profit/day from the massive drop in epic gem prices. I had around 10,000g worth of epic/rare gems and we’ve seen a 25% drop across the board, bringing my inventory worth down 2,500g and I also forgot to do the darkmoon faire last time around but it’s coming back this sunday and I’m getting prepared.

How I Made My Gold

As I was collecting data to report back on where I’ve made all my gold I noticed that my beancounter data was missing a lot of sales. When I investigated this I noticed that it was only recording the 1st mail every time I went to the mailbox. I found out the problem was due to an issue with having altoholic scanning my mailbox at the same time as beancounter. I’ve fixed the problem (had to turn off “Scan Mail Body” option in the config menu > datastore > DateStore_Mails within altoholic config).

I reset my beancounter data and everything is being recorded properly now.

Inscription

The majority of my income is still coming from inscription, you can see how I make gold from inscription in this post.

Drop in sales of Faces of Doom and Iron-Bound Tomb

iron bound tome

I used to sell around 1 of each offhand a day, this has now dropped to 1 a week. Although the profit margin and price have gone up significantly because much less people are willing to make these offhands when the price of frozen orbs shot up from 5g to 25g each. I will try lowering my fallback price from 260g each to 225g as people just aren’t willing to spend that much money anymore.

Glyphs Prices Going Up

glyph prices rising

I really don’t know the cause of this, I think one of my main competitors has left the market. The average I was able to leist glyphs at was around 8g – 13g each but I’ve noticed a lot more instances now where glyphs are being posted at my fallback of 48g and selling, and my average sales now are around 25g each.

Jewelcrafting

Cashing in on Epic Gem Price Drop

Many players have shown concern over the price drop in epic gems but so far for me it has been amazing. I am able to sell my cuts at their old prices but the cost of my materials have dropped by 25% meaning more gold in my pocket.

Since I hit 10,000g with my jewelcrafting DK, I have made 2,383g profit from gem cuts alone in 5 days, this is with only 9 patterns known.

Stock to Get Rid of

I still have a large leftover stock of frozen orbs, eternal fires, mithril bars and titanium bars that I bought for speculation and resale purposes for 3.3.3, prices have finally gone up with eternal fires to around 22g each, frozen orbs around the same price and titanium bars have remained at pre patch levels of 15g each.

Plans Going Forward

The purpose of this website is to show the best gold making methods that require the least amount of time but have the highest gold profit return. I like to call that gold/hr or opportunity cost (although many argue you can’t put gold/hr on things like profession). I am going to continue building up jewelcrafting and doing my inscription routine. Now that my beancounter data is wiped clean and recording everything properly I am going to make my gold making progress updates broken down by profession and an estimation of how much time I devoted to each profession so you can see which earns the most gold.

I am preparing to powerlevel enchanting on my DK tomorrow and I think I’m going to record the whole thing as a guide to leveling enchanting for the cheapest, be on the lookout for that and a whole slue of articles related to making gold with enchanting.

I am going to transfer over another level 80 toon from my old server and do another project, this time with Alchemy/ Blacksmithing(or tailoring) maybe to see how fast I can make 10,000g with those professions, this time I will be starting from scratch but the leveling portion will be done.

Oh and also… gold cap incoming! with the darkmoon faire this weekend I will have 1150 snowfall inks to make into cards, 6 nobles decks, 4 prism decks, 8 undeath decks, 3 chaos decks and around 40 nobles cards to sell which will put me well above the gold cap.

I am interested in how you plan on making 10K with alchemy. I run the numbers weekly on all my 450 professions and so far the only thing that turns a decent profit per hour is transmutes. Flasks haven’t turned a profit in months and healing pots give maybe 20s profit per. Best of luck!

Alchemy has proved to be extremely good profit for me. Admittedly having a stockpile of frozen orbs pre-patch helped, but even buying mats from the AH returns profit. I make bout 4-6g profit per flask including ah cuts and listings, but generally get a few stacks from procs once I’ve finished crafting them. I stockpile them until the price is around 25g on wednesday and thursday and list them all keeping a close eye on undercutting. They all sell on these main raiding days bringing in a profit of 500g per proc’d stack I sell + 5-6g per non proc flask.

Competetion has been high over the last couple of weeks though so I’m holding off on crafting more until I can sell these and just stocking up on herbs.

It’s really crazy how one server can be completely different from another. Flasks never go above 18g on my server, no matter the day. Market profit potential is in the oddest of places.

IF you plan on making another profession and powerleveling it, instead of enchanting, can you possibly record it, it would be very helpful and interesting to see

    I agree with Asmiroth.
The prices for the gems shown at the pictures above are awesome! It’s about 50% higher than on my server for every gem. I wonder how much the raw gems are. On my server they are since weeks similar to the cut gems. Sometimes slightly lower, sometimes slightly higher (though not cut!).

    re: enchanting

Again, very server dependent but I’ve found mine often lacking in the materials I need to keep stock up. Typically, I can post 3-4 days a week due to unavailable VCs/GCEs at a decent price range in order to keep any profit. I can’t really use KTQ daily for that reason. Even though LFD has increased the availability of certain mats, it’s increased the perception that enchanting costs are down.

Very server dependent luckily my server’s gem prices are close to Kraklin’s. Today I was able to buy several cardinal rubies for 100 to 105g and cut them into bolds. The bolds sold for 180g!.

It’s helping me build enough capital to start investing in some major inventory. I’m still no where near Kraklin…you’re a freak at this.

Interesting note that on my server, JC services are a better g/hour than posting. Everything is 20g per cut at minimum and I can get 10 people in 5 minutes. Since they can get all the gems they want for cheap, it’s a good time to have a wide variety of cuts available!
