It’s unusual for people to look for the hard way to do things, especially when great guides are available showing you the fastest way to level. However WoW has turned into a game that is playable for a wide age group and made relatively easy to progress.
There is no way to raise the difficulty level unless you impose restrictions or attempt to go about things the hardest way.
Adding this difficulty to the game makes things challenging for those up to the task and brings a sense of pride of having leveled up the hardest class in the game.

The hardest class to level would be a Mage, but wait, you can only use fists, in all +str gear. Now there’s a challenge!
OK, now onto the real part of the article.
To determine the hardest class to level we have to come up with a definition of what we mean by “hardest”
Rate at which exp is gained, solo.
How fast you level is directly related to how much DPS you can deal, combined with how much downtime you have between fights. Therefore a class that deals low amounts of dps and must rest a long time before the next fight would level the slowest. Exp/Hour = Most Mobs Killed in an hour.
Survivability
Dying can take a lot of time out of leveling, and at times no matter how careful you are there will be that patrol coming from behind you that you didn’t see. Certain classes have abilities to escape these sticky situations while others do not, and will probably end up dying after aggroing more than they can chew.
Therefore, given those points, and with picking the right leveling talents and proper gear…
The Hardest class to level is…
The mighty Warrior.
May seem strange, they are tough as nails, have tons of HP and look pretty beastly, but there are a few reasons why they are the hardest to level.
A lot of downtime
Warriors must rest very frequently, relying on food and bandages to heal themselves. This takes time out of leveling and can be very slow and tedious, as well as expensive, they have amongst the highest repair bills because of all the punishment they take.
Lack of survivability
Every fight a warrior gets into is a “do or die” situation, yes they have hamstring, but by the time they use that and start to retreat, the mob usually has time to get in an extra 2-3 hits, and if you end up aggroing an add that you can’t handle, you’re pretty much toast… the best thing to do is RUN AWAY!
If you are looking for a challenge, warriors are the hardest class to level, can get very frustrating at times and many people have quit in the process, but if you stick it out they are one of the best for arena pvp and the most needed class for groups and raids.
Runner up: Paladin – even with their leveling build they have the lowest DPS in the game, although they have much more survivability than a warrior and later on can AOE level.

I totally agree with the warrior being hardest. Being mainly a druid I hated the fact that I couldn’t heal my warrior when needed! So what did I do? Rolled a draenai warrior of course… Gift of the Naaru ftw!

potions? food? try leveling a priest, holy, all the way from 1-80. and pray to god you have a guild that you can straight instance grind without downtime, and be happy with 200k exp/hr.
I’d have to concur with the priest comment there. Leveling as holy from 70-80 was a bitch. >.>; Especially since monsters kept mobbing up on me…
why couldn’t you go shadow to level? or did you need to stay holy for instancing

Wow…. i think pally is the hardest to lvl warrior takes a second to lvl up for me… Hunter is easiest and Pally is haredest cause theyre battles take soo long and they have little DPS… my opinion
I actually have to say for me a pally is the easiest to level, if you know how. If you have the correct gear and build pallys can actually deal a very high amount of damage. They also take very little damage if you use your judgments in the correct order. The key is if you are new or you don’t have enough money to keep upgrading your armor and weapons to the best possible then go with a different class. Again new people should level hunters to get used to the game because they use melee and ranged and pet so you get a feel for the game and what you like to do. I do totally agree warriors suck leveling though My 80 took forever.
ok once ur warrior gets to the higher lvls spec him protection and he’s really not tht hard to level with shield slam and revenge + various stun moves… my warrior (level 67) only loses around 700 hp a fight (out of 10500) and has decent gear.
i have an 80 warrior it was super easy to lvl
I have a paly i think there fairly easy to lvl although they get boring im looking to start a good alt. any ideas for a class and race would be nice

DK lvling was cake i have 2 80 dk's now that they have been nerfed a few times they are not as gfg to lvl but still a cakewalk. i agree with warrior and pally comment, but why in hell would you lvl a priest holy? especially with dual spec available now.

Priests are good but burn xp at the begining. basically levels 1-30 is hell as a priest.
Warrior is indeed the hardest to level because of the repair bills, food cost and downtime involved with eating after every encounter, I dont like levelling as Prot as you become easy kill for the Alliance's high dps mana classes while questing. I found levelling as Tankadin as the easiest as nobody tries to mess with you while levelling because of the high survivability and no honor kills for them in the end as I would just bubble, sing, dance and hearth. ( U Can't Touch This!!! ).
I would say all classes are hard to lvl i have a 70 paladin ( retro ) it was hard with him and also with my mage or any other class its just sertain ppl know how to play with a class and ofc then it goes faster….
Im not so sure warriors are the hardest to level for me on my warrior 25-43 was 1 week and pallys are only hard to level if your not Prot Prot takes little time although durring dungeons you have to be much more focused other than a dps class
