glyphs-undercut-mass-cancel

I logged on after patch 3.3 went live to notice that my usual cycle of canceling and reposting glyphs was no longer working. Luckily the developer “Shadowed” of the addon Quick Auctions 2 was available online and notified us of a new rule put in by Blizzard.

Here is a quote from Shadowed regarding the change:

Q u o t e:
“Blizzard has changed auction canceling so it can’t automatically be done, there is still a loophole in it that one hardware event (key press/mouse click/etc) will let you cancel an unlimited amount of auctions. The downside is there is no more automatic canceling where you press a button and go AFK for 20 minutes.”

It looks like Blizzard is trying to cut back any “automation” that is possible with addons to do with the auction house.

No need to worry though because Shadowed has released a quick fix to his addon which just requires you to click a confirm button before your auctions are canceled, you can download it here on curse Quick Auctions 2. No word yet on if Auctionator has fixed their mass cancel feature.

However, since blizzard has taken this step to prevent mass canceling they may go a step further and cause every auction canceled to require one hardware event each.

It would be unfortunate if this happened, as canceling is required to prevent other mass producers from undercutting every one of your auctions by 1 copper which prevents you from getting sales.

We will  keep you up to date on this matter and inform you what further actions Blizzard may take with Auction House Addons and ways to keep your crafting business time efficient.

I wonder if this change is aimed at the AH bots that seem to be increasingly common these days? If it is, hopefully one hardware event is enough to do the trick. If they make it so that an key press is required for every cancellation then I would probably stop selling glyphs – it’s bad enough getting RSI milling the herbs, without having to go through a similar process to cancel the auctions!

Maybe? the only change now with the updated QA2 is the hardware event inbetween the scanning of which auctions were undercut then the canceling.. not too much of a hassel.

But I agree if it is changed for each one to cancel manually the glyph business will be too time consuming.

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering why the hell QA2 wouldn’t cancel auctions anymore. I assumed Blizz stuck their tails in the code some more.
