Another quick update on how things are coming along with my goal to hit the gold cap. (Screenshot above doesn’t include my glyphs and Darkmoon cards, vellums, etc on another posting alt)
There was a bit of a bump in the road when I decided to switch servers from Tichondrius due to latency issues and not being able to play for 8 days and had to move my stockpile of 90,000g + 60,000g in inventory over to the new server. I am however much happier with this new server and came out with a little bit of profit with the transactions.
Hitting the Gold Cap
Here’s a screenshot of my gold total before I left Tichondrius back on February 14th, 2010. I had a total of 140,000g including inventory across all my alts.

I had a total of 17,000g and invested around 70,000g into items. Unfortunately I had to leave behind around 500 glyphs (about 6,000g worth) because they wouldn’t fit and various other items on alts.
When I switched to the new server I got to work flipping the Battered Hilts, the 13 Primordial Saronites and all the other items, on Feb 18th (4 days after my transfer) this was my liquid gold total:
Much better, I was able to get back 58,000g in 4 days (mainly by selling the 13 primordials right away for 22.7k and the hilts for 24k).
However this is only my liquid gold amount, and I know before I left Tich my total amount including inventory was 140k, so I’ve done an updated to my current total “worth”:
Liquid Gold Total Feb 22nd: 89, 373g = 13,645g gained in 4 days.
Total worth including inventory Feb 22, 2010:
Current inventory levels as of Feb 22, 2010:
My total worth number is only up by 8,400g since my transfer 8 days ago, 1,050g/day isn’t that great for me but there have been some major shifts in the market that have impacted my numbers and some time lost trying to get my business set up again on the new server. Also I haven’t been playing “every” night as I’ve been devoting some time to the DK 10k Project.
1. Price of Nobles deck down from 5,000g to 3,500g = 4 x -1500 = -6,000g
2. 4 x Darkmoon Card Greatness (AGI) down from 5,000g to 3,500g = 4 x -1500 = -6,000g
Even though I bought the 4 nobles decks for 3,000g on my old server to flip, my old valuation of the 140k gold total had those priced at 5,000g each so that dropped. Of course if the value of the Nobles decks is lower so are the cards that come from them too.
So that accounts for 12,000g “lost” in the transfer which would have put me at 20,400g gained in 8 days = 2,550g/day which sounds more like how much I’m currently making by doing inscription to make my gold. Add the time it took me to set up my business again, restock on old glyphs and buy bags for my 3 posting alts.
At 2,500g/day it’ll take me 26 days to hit the gold cap, but I’m hoping that this new project with the DK by leveling up Jewelcrafting and Enchanting will speed up my daily gold profit, plus the items I bought to flip once patch 3.3.3 releases.
DK 10K Project Update
I’ve only played the DK twice now since my last update 4 days ago (Feb 18). The gold total then was 646g all gained from leveling herbalism to 125 and mining to 100 in 10 hours total playtime (including leveling to 60).
The first session was for 4 hours to level from 60 to 62.
In that next play session (Feb 20th) I spent 4 hours and accomplished the following:
1. Log on at 2:25pm – buy and sell on the AH, get more scan data.
Bought 40 Stranglekelp at 10g/stack, flip for 30g each = 40g profit
2. Travelled to Outland at 3:05pm and leveled from 62-63 end: 5:15pm
3. Travelled to Arathi Highlands to Gather Herbs/Ores
I want to hit at least 3,000g so that when I hit 65 I can immediately begin power leveling jewelcrafting and have enough funds to do so.
From 5:15pm to 6:20pm I gathered 290g worth of ore/herbs = 500g/hr in Arathi.
Current Gold Total Worth on DK after 18 hours played: 1,516g. I know it says 1,753 gold but it didn’t update my auctions that were sold (237g worth) and still thought it was in the auction house.
We are soon reaching the point where the gold amount is going to start taking off. While I could just continue mining/herbing at 500-600g/hr and reach the 10k mark in 15 hours I think I’ll hit it much faster with JCing/Enchanting plus it will help contribute in the long run towards my goal to hit the cap.
Stay tuned for more updates and gold making articles.

After you hit 10,000g, where’s your next stop? The gold cap?
I have yet to hit 10,000g on my main character, but I think that’s because I always get enchants and gems as soon as I get new gear, and I power leveled JC.
Good luck

definitely the gold cap, the main purpose to start the DK experiment was that I needed to level up JCing/Ench anyways to accelerate my gold cap journey.
Granted it will take longer to farm the gold myself and document it this way from scratch when I could of just sent my alt 5k gold and focused on hitting 65, I think this is an interesting project to track for anyone else starting on a new server and wants to build a quick reserve, or just to show you could go from 0g to 10,000g in around 20 hours playtime (That’s 1 week playing 3 hrs a day) and obviously that includes the time it takes to level from 55 – 65 at 2hrs a level that’s 20 hrs of lvling by itself.
Next experiment may be to use a fresh lvl 80 and track how fast I can level 2 professions and make 10k gold, I’d say that would take around 10 hours of playtime as I wouldn’t have to worry about actually leveling. And going from 10k – 20k would probably take even less because the professions would be maxed.
Hell, I might try for a million or something eventually
Hopefully blizzard will raise the gold cap so you can have a million gold on a single character. I think that would make things more convenient.
A single character at the gold cap is, in my opinion, quite a remarkable thing (at least at this point, in Cataclysm I think it will be an everyday occurance, which is why I think they’re raise the cap). But having two characters at the gold cap is just that much more remarkable

For that last pic that you have posted, what addon is that? I like the fact that it not only shows your current gold total, but also how much your inventory is worth.
Edit: I was lurking on the JMTC forums, and found an addon called Auc-Util-BigPicture (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10924-Auc-Util-BigPicture.html)
Is that the one you’re using ?
Yup that’s it.
I made a post about it a few months back, I am working on a better way to manage articles on the site so you’d be able to find this kind of stuff easier:

Hey I’ve been reading up on your site for a while now and I was wondering. on your Dk experiment for 10k gold, when you get/got the regular flying, did you just pick up a regular mount or did you buy the Dk flying mount?
perhaps I’m just not cut out to be a wow millionaire I’ve been using some of the addons you posted a while back but nothing i do seems to work… I’m either making only a couple silver profit or straight up losing money.
I just bought the regular mount. I would rather save the gold as my goal is to get to 10k as fast as possible.
Regular Mount = 50 gold
DK Mount = 950 gold
Although the DK mount will scale with training skill, buying the regular mount + buying the epic mount = 150 gold, so I’m saving 800 gold.
Keep at it on the gold making front, you learn new things everyday and you’ll find out why you’re losing/making gold. Biggest lesson to learn is to figure out what the real cost of all the items are to craft and only make those items that you can get a decent return of profit on.
