what I am thinking of doing is putting into a list all of the most popular gems, you can find them on www.wowpopular.com then I'll write down the average market price for the cut and the average market price of the uncut epic. but WoWPopular would be a good starting point to see which gems actually move.
I'll be taking a look at the rare gem market as well.

Thanks, that would be great. I made a google spreadsheet of all the gems and their prices on my server, I figured I would base my design choices mainly off of that list. That just doesn't seem like the best way, though. Prices of gems are constantly changes, and just because it's priced high, doesn't mean it will sell, at all.
In fact, I think the high price (when you compare it to other cut gems of that same color) may indicate low demand for the gem.

haven't researched that yet, I'll be starting to power level JC and Enchanting tonight.. have all the mats minus some thorium bars and 40 green gems to go from 1 - 450 and an extra 1200 gold on the DK to spend so I should be good. Can use all the jewelery I make and DE it to level up enchanting as well.
I will report back the designs I end up getting and how I came about choosing them.

Wow, nice to see such a huge jump. Mine has actually been on the decline lately since I've been trying to load up on epic JC designs. Prospecting lots of Titanium ore and not really being able to move the gems, since I can't craft all of the different types yet.
Even when I do get them crafted, I've been having a hard time moving the inventory. How do you chose which JC designs to pick up first?

I'd prefer to keep it private.. I may forget to block it in one of my screen shots or videos but I don't openly advertise my server because any competitors could just read my blog and know my ever move, what items I'm willing to craft and what my cut off point is for prices.
I really just picked this server at random, I looked at what servers were closest to me (Boston Data Centers) and compared some prices before the move.
I think every server that is medium population or higher will have gold making opportunities and open markets to exploit.. you just need to look harder :)
If you are thinking of a server transfer to one with a "Better" economy, just make a lvl 1 and go to an auction house, search for items within the profession/niche you want to get into (for example, search glyph prices and if they are mostly above 10g each and herb prices are 20g/stack or lower that is a good market, also eternal lifes between 20-25g and Snowfall inks selling at 15g+)

Yup, it will vary from server to server.. I found on some days I was the only person with runescrolls up. The server I used to be on was much higher population and I sold runescrolls there for around the same price, but there've been weeks where I didn't craft any because the price went too low.

Good to hear its all going good for you on the new server. I have made the decision that I'm getting kinda tired of raiding and would like to start exploring the economy of wow. Thanks for all the videos and updates, they are very helpful. Would u mind telling me what server you transfered to? I'm assuming you want to keep it private so you don't get spammed by fans or anything, but it would be helpful to know which servers have a more reliable economy. After following your updates it seems you have made a very wise choice in choosing yours. If you do decide to let me know, I think you have my email now as it is required to post a comment. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Just wanted to make sure this was accurate; On your server scrolls of fortitude go for 7g EACH? Meaning 1 stack (of 20) goes for 140g and a 5 stack for 35g?
Seems awfully high. Only my server they go for 2.5g each and 50g for a stack. Unfortunately with this price, it's not worth the 20g snowfall ink to make them.
