My main source of gold used to come from buying and selling on the auction house, buying items at a low price and flipping it back on the auction house at its average price.
While not as many deals exists anymore, due to the crash of the twink market, heirloom items, players utilizing auctioneer to let them know of average values and sites like WoWhead reporting average item costs, these deals are not as common as they used to be.
However the buying and selling process can be done while you are doing other activities such as milling and crafting and I still come across some really good finds that net me a couple hundred gold profit a day. I find it can supplement my income while making gold with methods in Luke’s Guide.
The way I find the deals are clearly outlined in my Auctioneer Video Tutorial.
I’d like to start sharing on a regular basis my highest profit flips and a little about the item.
Auction House Reselling Results as of December 14th
1) Singing Crystal Axe – Bought for 200g, Sold at 685g = 485g profit.
Requires level 70 to use, this is a fantastic 2h weapon to level up with and is EXTREMELY rare as it is a random world drop in Outlands. It also has a very nice look to it and the effect overlaps when duel weilded with titans grip. No doubt this item would sell.
2) Enchant Scrolls
These are consistent money makers from me because sometimes a few people will be leveling up enchanting and just throw a ton of supply on the AH, crashing the market. They’ll post scrolls below the cost to actually make them just to get some gold back to keep leveling enchanting. The trick is to buy the scrolls whenever they are at 25% of their value and wait for the demand and market to pick back up.
Scroll of Enchant Gloves – Greater Assault – Bought 2 at 25g, Sold 2 at 33g = 16g profit
Scroll of Enchant Cloak – Superior Agility: Bought 2 at 2g 50s each, sold 2 at 13g 55s = 22g profit.
Scroll of Enchant Boots – Assault: Bought 3 at 22g, sold 3 at 44g 41s = 67g profit
Scroll of Enchant Weapon – Superior Potency: Bought 1 at 249g, sold 1 at 385g = 136g profit.
3) Essence of Water: Bought 16 at 1g 68s, Sold 13 at 7g 8s = 70g 20s profit
Essence of Water is used in some level 80 frost resist gear and is rare because it only drops in Azeroth. Generally items with a low supply on the auction house with medium to high demand are markets that you can monopolize and set whatever you want to price and buyout any competition selling below you.
In the past I’ve come across items that would net me anywhere from 1,000 to 5,000g profit by just scooping it up while I am doing a realtime scan and enabling “resale” search. This extra income supplements what I am making while milling and crafting and it is a great way to keep your auctioneer data up to date.
