After a hard days work of collecting adamantite ore around Nagrand and Shadowmoon Valley you arrive back in the capital with your booty and you want to get the most gold for your hard labor.
You are now faced with the question of whether to sell those ore in stacks of 20 in your auction house, or send them off to your jewelcraft friend to prospect them (or prospect yourself).
The decision all comes down to some basic math, Here i’ll provide a simple chart you can follow:
Assume you have 100 adamantite ore to prospect or sell.

As you can see, if you were to prospect 100 ore you should make on average 144g given the auction house prices that are in this chart, each server will have a different economy and difference prices so plug your numbers in, but the % of chance to prospect each gem is static.
This should give you an idea of whether to prospect or not, if you see ore selling for more than 1.3g per ore then it may be more beneficial to sell it on the AH, so the lesson is to watch the market and react to changes in supply and demand.
