Assassination is based around poison damage and now in BiS gear, math says that Assassination will be ahead of combat by 500 dps, on a single target fight with minimal movement and no target switching. If there is medium movement and any kind of target switching, combat pulls ahead by quite a little bit. IF you are assassination you are uber fail now because of the ~10% decrease in poison damage. It took a while for me to find my rhythm but now i am pulling awesome figures. It really is a matter of balancing your hit / crit / haste / exp when it comes to playing mut spec. Rotation is important too I always stealth and open with rupture to get 1 point on the target and pop SnD then pop HfB while the bleed effect is still active then just start spamming mutilate to 4 or 5 points then envenom then just keep the rotation alive by popping HfB when ever it's needed and envenom will keep your SnD alive. Using this rotation working off a 5.8k gs on saurfang for example i push approx 11.5k+ dps. For pvp thats another story but for dps it just won't happen. If you do plan on staying Sub for some reason, you should stack attack power, armor penetration. Make sure you use Shadow Step every time its off cooldown for its attack speed bonus, use shadow dance every time its off cool down no matter what. Redo hemo every time its at 1 stack but use BackStab as your main combo builder. Thats all I can do to help you, make sure you keep SnD up. Don't use rupture.
