I make gold with inscription not alot but profit. I sell the armor vellums they sell for 2g on my server and i buy 1 stack of silverleaf for 1g. i get about 55 pigments after milling 6 stacks and i think you make the vellums with 1 moonglow ink and 2 light parchments (may have gotten the wrong ink type). so for a lv 8 mage a 1g profit is enough to get my training done.

Your post is a bit misleading .....
"Players who purchase glyphs now have them added to a list and won’t ever have to buy them again!".

The press briefing indicated "talk" about making glyphs permanent rather than consumable.

Your post is premature and needlessly stirring up the scribes.

you wrote: I have never heard of enchanters ... havning that much stock to post at once

I did in the early BC times. But it was easier and harder too.
I listed about 2.5k-3k auctions of dust, sharps and essences per day. Often no stacks but single ones. That was because the AH won't sort ALL pages per price. It sorted every page for it's own. So if you had several pages with your auctions only, the players got tired to click "next" to check if there are cheaper auctions. I sold a lot!
But it took much time because the max. auction-duration was 24 hours at this time. I needed about 45 minutes to empty my mailbox only ...

Yeah likely, when I got into it, there didn't seem to be many people in on it. What I have notice is that everyone seem to be in the glyphmarket over the offhands or vallums and scolls. I am however in other in other markets selling a number of different items so dropping glyphs form what I sell only drop the number of items and in truth is going to save me money. I was posting up to 7 each at a time, I went down to selling just 2 to lower the number I had to grab form the mailbox and repost when I got undercut. Right now, it just doesn't seem worth it to stay.

Sounds you are on a server with goblins that got tired of all the newcomers... on my server my estimate is that the total glyph sales each day is about 10kG. One random day when i had nothing to do i kept re-listing 2-3 times and hour and that day i made 9k. but most of the time i end up at 3-5k per day since i don´t care or have time to be at it that much.
I did lower my lower limit to 6g from 10g a while back. anything lower is not worth the time of making them. But there are some 50g+ glyphs being sold as well.

The best we can do before cata is to stockpile gold so we can move into new professions should the glyphmarket collapse.

I've been a fan of this site for some time, first time posting. I have to say that I myself. I think the problem with the glyph market isn't that Blizzard has killed the farming bots, no no.

The main reason I see is that everyone, and I mean everyone got into the glyph market. I'm lucky to sell 2-3 glyph for more then 1g per week. It's not even worth selling them anymore. On my server I can get herbs for around 10g a stack. It's not worth it anymore and either, the people who are in glyph market on my server are in other markets, making up the cost of mats or are just place stupid.

As I said, my server, 1 herb goes for about 40-80s=1=ink+paper=glyph. So when I see glyph's going for less then 40s, and not even that. I know alot of sites say you can make up your cost with Snowfall Inks. I wont sell them if they go below 10g each. Well.. I sell only 5 a time, in the last month I was lucky to sell 2 Snowfalls, they are going as low as 4g somedays.

When I started, right around before the word really got out about glyphs as being the big money maker, I was selling glyphs for about 20g each, and snowfall for about 45g+. Right now, the only way to make any money with Inscription is with the offhands (make only one epic and make no more until they sell) and the vellums and runescrolls. Everything else is for the most part bleed out and even those glyphs that sell for over 2g each, by the end of the day your undercut so much its down to 40s each.

I think that I would rather see the total number of glyphs reduced. As has been said above, there are way too many of them to manage efficiently.

When you add to that the pricing structure I have been forced to strongly consider abandoning glyphs completely.

Maybe Blizzard could consider making a glyph behave more like a gem. You could have generic slots to insert a glyph into. Any type or selected types of glyphs could be inserted and would add a specific level of buff such as hit or spell power, etc.

In addition, there could also be levels of glyphs which would have different creation costs and sales values. By this I mean that you could select a +12 hit glyph that you could afford and upgrade it later by destroying the original smaller glyph and inserting a +20 hit glyph. They should be soulbound in some way so that they cannot be transferred with the weapon or piece of armor thus insuring a continuing market.

Just some ramblings of the village idiot . . . . . . lol

well - let's not cry too much about the 'death of inscription' yet - there is no OFFICIAL announcement about non-cosumable glyphs - there is only "talk".

they may decide not to go that direction. so let's not get ahead of ourselves.
