As I get more involved in making gold with Jewelcrafting I was reviewing some of the previous guides on the site here and while I was re-reading Wingman’s Making Gold With Jewelcrafting 3.3.2 guide I realized a potential gold making opportunity I haven’t tried out yet with my new grandmaster JC DK as part of the DK 10K project.
The method involves converting green gems – Chalcedony, Sun crystal, Bloodstone and Huge Crystal into rings and amulets then selling them to the vendor for profit!
This has to be one of my favorite ways to make gold in WoW.
1. High Gold an Hour? – Check
2. Can be totally AFK while doing it? – Check
3. No much work involved? – Check
4. Get your profit instantly? – Check
I was astonished to see that with my servers current prices on Eternal Earth/Crystallized Earth and the different green gems that I could make 1,114 gold an hour by just buying up the materials, parking my DK at a vendor and set him to automatically craft everything while I write this post and watch a movie
Here are the requirements to profit from this method and see if it can be accomplished right now on your server.
Calculating the Profit
The calculation is very simple since we know what the price will be for sure, no worrying about auction house deposit costs, being undercut or AH fees.
The 4 Items that work in this process and the green gem required to craft it:
Bloodstone Band – Bloodstone
Crystal Chalcedony Amulet – Chalcedony
Crystal Citrine Necklace – Huge Citrine
Sun Rock Ring – Sun Crystal
Each of these items take 2 crystallized earth to create and the green gem listed beside the item.
All 4 of these items vendor for 3g 14s 78c meaning that if you can get the total materials below that amount the remaining it profit straight from the vendor.
Green Gems and Crystallized Earth
You can get low priced green gems from either prospecting saronite ore (in which this method would be called the saronite shuffle) or by buying it straight from the auction house.
Crystallized Earth can be obviously created from Eternal Earth, but I’d stay aware from going out and farming it as that would severely reduce the gold/hour of your time.
Gold an Hour and Costs
We need to keep the total cost of our materials below 3g 14s but since each ring takes 5 seconds to craft you’ll be wasting your time sitting there making rings for 1silver profit.
Here’s a quick chart of the gold an hour you’ll achieve if you can bring your costs to a certain point:
| Total Mat Cost | Profit | Gold An Hour |
| 1.6 | 1.55 | 1114.42 |
| 1.8 | 1.35 | 970.42 |
| 2 | 1.15 | 826.42 |
| 2.2 | 0.95 | 682.42 |
| 2.4 | 0.75 | 538.42 |
| 2.6 | 0.55 | 394.42 |
| 2.8 | 0.35 | 250.42 |
| 3 | 0.15 | 106.42 |
Ex: Buy Crystallized Earth at 0.3 each (or Eternal Earth at 3g each) and the green gem at 1g = 1.6g cost/1.55g profit, you can make 720 of these an hour = 1,116g profit.
Case Study
Here’s the results I had when I found a whole bunch of cheap crystallized earth and green gems on my servers AH last night.
Started with: 163g (shows 138g because I already bought the 77 crystallized earth at 33s each)
Bought out 273 Bloodstones for an average of 1g 1s each.
Bought out Crystallized Earth and Eternal Earth for under 50s each.
Total cost was 2g per craft which was a profit of 1g 15s and 826g an hour.
I started with 163g and ended up with 686g in 40 minutes.
Keep in mind that this profit was all made while I was writing this post and doing some other things around the house so I’m willing to accept a lower gold/hour than going out mining or doing other activities which require my full attention.
Bonus Tip – Macro to Autosell all items
Since the rings/necklaces don’t stack in your bags you’ll find that you need to constantly sell the rings while you’re crafting to make room for more rings.
A thanks goes out to Wingman for letting me know of this macro, when you run it in game it will automatically sell to the vendor all the items currently in your inventory, whichever name you have in the quotations.
Run that at the vendor, make sure you replace the name in the quotes for whichever item you want to mass sell.

Popularity: 8% [?]

The addon ‘AutoProfit’ makes it a lot easier to autovender the rings/necklaces.
This little trick is how I was able to buy my Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth. It can be a REAL money maker because once you buy everything from your snatch list, people (on my server at least) go crazy, and post MORE up! There are some days where all I do is log on, craft and vendor for hours. Another thing to keep in mind, is that if you get a good deal on the Earths, you can afford to spend a little more on the gems and still get similar profit.
But with out a doubt, once you get your snatch list together, DON’T STOP BUYING. It promotes people to put more up, and it’s free gold!!!

yea I need to spend the time and add all these items to my snatch, did it again tonight and pulled in 400g while I was making dinner, went towards JC tokens.
I still prefer to disenchant my rings/necklaces for the dusts. Yes, it requires more time and attention, but at (roughly) double the profits, I think it’s worth it. On my server, IDs sell for 2-2.50 each with each ring giving ~2.5 (with the occasional lesser cosmics/dream shards thrown in). That’s a (again roughly) 5g return, over the 3.14 from the vendor.
Now, is there any way to alter that macro so that instead of vendoring, it generates a mailing (to my chanter) or to automatically DE any of a particular item?
Here’s one that I use to mail greens to an alt.
/run for bag=0,4 do for slot=1,GetContainerNumSlots(bag) do local texture, itemCount, locked, quality=GetContainerItemInfo(bag, slot) if quality==2 then UseContainerItem(bag, slot) end end end
Also here are my selling macros.
/script for bag = 0, 4 do for slot = 1, GetContainerNumSlots(bag) do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag,slot) if name and string.find(name,”43244″) then DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(“Selling “..name) UseContainerItem(bag,slot) end end end
/script for bag = 0, 4 do for slot = 1, GetContainerNumSlots(bag) do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag,slot) if name and string.find(name,”Bloodstone Band”) then DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(“Selling “..name) UseContainerItem(bag,slot) end end end
/script for bag = 0, 4 do for slot = 1, GetContainerNumSlots(bag) do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag, slot) if name and string.find(name,”Sun Rock Ring”) then DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(“Selling “..name) UseContainerItem(bag, slot) end end end

I set up group with Quick Auctions and there is an auto mail feature that you can set up to mail items you specify to certain alts.
You just have to craft while you have the mailbox open and it’ll automatically mail them off whenever it sees the item in your inventory.
Thanks Craigoary for the macro, I’ll have to give that a try!
nice, very nice ‘trick’
sadly my server isn’t that populated so last night I only got about 140 of these items to craft – but with overall costs of 63s
Naturally, gem and earth prices differ server to server. One thing you may want to look at is adding in the crafted vendor value of the red, orange, and yellow gems (stacks of 3 blues sell like hot cakes on my server so I don’t bother with those) into your saronite cost.
For example, a stack of 20 saronite goes for around 20g on my server (the median price of a cut rare gem for us), but i can afford to buy 25g stacks (or if I’m feeling risky 28g stacks), because I anticipate 2-3 vendor-able crafted items from each stack. While paying 25g a stack may not be a big money maker, it’s very often that I end up with some uncut inventory, essential for free!

After you messaged me on twitter I gave this a shot. At first I couldn’t find the mats at a reasonable price, but I just found a LOT of crystallized earths for about 45s a piece.
I bought them all out, now I’m looking to buy more gems for about a gold each. I’ve already made quite a bit of money, though… thanks for the tip

Looks like the cat’s outta the bag. This trick has flown around the blogosphere faster than a wild fire.
Here’s a neat little excel sheet for people if they don’t use auctioneer, or are unsure if what they’re buying is a good deal.

Hi, i was reading your page on sell the rings/necklace to vender for a profit. But my question is that if i buy saronite ore for 14g-16g and prospect them and get the gems make the rings/necklace and then DE them will i still make a profit if ID sell for around 30g-40g some times higher? or would buying the green gems such as bloodstone and other ones you said right off the ah make more of a profit for me?
As with any AH strat, it all depends on your sever and their prices. It also depends on how much you sell, over how long, and what value do you place on having a profit now, or a profit later.
The link I provided in a previous post should help. Wowstability has a lot of spreadsheets where you can plug in your realm AH prices, and what kind of profit you can expect.

Been doing this for 3 months and now because of you I have someone to compete against which will greatly lower the income by a significant amount.
You should be happy this lasted 3 months for you. That’s quite miraculous that your entire server is so behind on information.
Remeber that you have to check what gem is the cheapest and what one that will make you the most profit:)
I came up with a really nice way to make gold. If you buy Kings Ambers for gold at the action house or cardinal ruby(whatever) you can cut it to the ”Thick Kings Amber” or ”Delicate/fractured cardinal ruby” atleast those are the most expensive cut gems on my server. Ok so if you buy a Kings Amber for 122g as I did yesterday and sell the ”Thick Kings Amber” for 174g as I also did yester day you will get a profit of 52 gold per gem and i bought just 3 of them so that a total profit of 156g and ofcourse you can make more depends on how many gems you buy.
Obs! Look what gems that are the most profitble on your server!
I just made over 500g in 34 minutes doing this.
Awesome Advice.
I started doing this on my realm and though the supply isn’t high enough to make this my main money-making scheme, I can get a solid 2 hour of crafting twice a week. The most important thing is to check the AH often. Use a Snatch list or an Auctionator shopping list, and buy everything under your threshold at least twice a day. I check for these items when I’m posting on my bank alt or enchanting alt, and qa3 automatically mails it all to my JC.
Also, ask around in trade, get a few miners/jewelcrafters to mail you the mats cod at your threshold price. It’s easier for them than auctioning them off, and it saves you a lot of time.
Great idea!
I tried this yesterday. Prices for these gems fluctuate drastically and quantities vary as well so I may not be able to purchase them on the AH every day but . . .
I try to make a mining run thru Icecrown 2-3 times a week and when you prospect the saronite you usually get a number of these gems and the Eternal Earth as well. Making the gems that you suggested from the prospected mats and selling them to a vendor is much more profitable than trying to AH the gems. I made about 150g yesterday.
Thanks for your very interesting articles. I doubt that I will ever become as dedicated as you but I find a tidbit that I can use for myself almost every time I read your articles.
Another nifty thing about this is that if you’re leveling JC you can start right at 350 and get skillups all the way to 400. nice way to take a little of the pain out of the leveling costs!
Hello,
I’ve been trying this and it does work.
Only it’s easy to got eternal earth for 0,3(3g per earth) but not so easy to get bloodstones for 1g or 1,1g. On my server bloodstone go for 2g atleast.
So my question is: Can I buy the bloodstones at 2g each? Because I still make 50silver profit?
