As I get closer and closer to the gold cap (Already at above 220,000g in “worth” just need items to sell) I am mapping out my future goals and the next things I want to accomplish in the game.

Hitting 214,000g was the big milestone I set for myself in October 2009 when I picked up Inscription, not having made any gold from professions previously.

I was introduced to a whole other world of gold making after taking this step into professions and my gold making per hour has gone up exponentially with this new knowledge.

Where to go from here?

I still have the DK 10K side project going on. He is currently sitting at 7,600g worth and I expect that he will hit the 10K liquid gold mark in the next few days, especially after picking up the Solid Sky Sapphire cut that has been selling like crazy!

I just love gold making in the game and I don’t have any plans to stop it from being the 1st priority of my playing.

I want to get realm firsts in professions when Cataclysm comes out, I want to be the richest player in WoW and just keep learning and fine tuning every gold making method in the game. I really enjoy passing on this knowledge to my readers.

Obviously the next step after hitting 214k would be to do it again, but faster, or to go for a Million.

I plan on going for a million gold for sure, but after I hit the gold cap I figure instead of the normal “reward” that other capped players give to themselves like buying a chopper or spending tons of gold on high lvl BOE’s, I’d rather have some other kind of fun and do some cool stuff with this valuable asset.

Giving Away 200,000g – Contests, Custom Quests, Events!

What better way to celebrate hitting gold cap than to give back to the community of players on my server who have been buying my glyphs, gems and being customers of mine.

Players want gold and don’t want to spend time getting it, but there are other fun things they like to do in the game and if you can reward them handsomely for it they’ll not only want to participate but will have fun doing so! (much more fun than a daily they’ve done multiple times)

So I need your help.. I need to brainstorm some creative ideas on how to give away 200,000g which I am going to record in videos and probably cast live on XFire.

Here are the current suggestions I’ve had

I made a forum post on the WoW official forums, you can read it here. From that post a lot of players gave me some very good suggestions. You can either vote on these suggestions in the comment below or suggest something of your own!

1. Create a low level toon and act like you are new to the game and give gold to those that help you out and don’t make fun of you.

2. Over pay for regular requests such as LF Enchant chest or Mage Ports.. Give them a HUGE tip. (This will reward normal players in the game who work off tips which can be hard at times as players are usually low tippers)

3. World event hide and seek, can keep it within one contienent, have a friend hide and give out clues to his location

5. I liked hiding in ally capitals and saying first person to open up trade gets 1000g.

- I LOVE this idea because so much commotion would insue from alliance wondering why all these Horde players are coming into the cityon a PvP server… but unfortunately Rogues and Druids would have the advantage here with stealth.

6. Buy choppers. Find Lv. 40 lowbies without BOA gear. Give motorcycles to lowbies.
It would be the gift that keeps on giving.

7. Do a fishing tournament. Select some rare fish and have a bunch of people go after it. You’d probably need screenshots of the participants bags before-hand to prevent cheating. Or have them all in a raid group so you can see what they’re looting, I suppose.

8. You could always advertise that your giving away 200k. then once people come to you, tell them the last person to leave gets the gold, or until you get bored, keep moving around to weed out AFKers, see how badly people want gold ;p

Get people to follow you around, walk around durotar, get on some boats/zepplins, walk through some dangerous areas, last person remaining at the end of the journey gets the gold.

9. randomly /who people and mail them 5000gold.

10. Ask players to get 6 random items of a specific variety, like 6 random and hard to get toys, or drinks, or weapons, etc

Maybe a scavenger hunt? Track down a list of 10-20 objects that are only found in out-of-the-way areas or from specific vendors, etc. e.g.:
The first person to come to you and trade you a full trade window of objects from the list wins! Since everyone doesn’t need to get every object, that allows for people to be spread out so they’re not all camping the same mobs and vendors.

11. Try to do the Running of the Tauren (or any other race you prefer)

Here is how it works for Taurens levels 1-5 Gather at Starting zone you then tell them to run to a point now since it is for 200kg you want it to be a very far and a very hard place to get to so probably Exodar or Darn.

Now how would this work well you will have 39 people running to you from Point A-B.

Now you can Follow them with a friend’s account or if you have another use it so you can record them running and of course dieing.

Rules people usually use:
Must be levels 1-5
Must be a <class>(you decide)
Must run to Body and not spirit rez ( You don’t have to enforce this)
Can not use BoAs or any greens
Can not use Potions, elixirs
Can not be buffed in any way
Can not be helped by higher levels (IE: level 80 staying by the level 1 to make sure he doesn’t die)
Can not use wind riders Zepplins Boats or other transportations to get to you (well except for the Boat at Astrannar of course)

12. Trivia Game – A question game in a custom channel (so we aren’t spamming trade chat) and award winners with the gold amount. Would be WoW questions related.

I would like to do something along the lines of a custom made quest as it is an event and something people would have fun doing and “working” for rather than just getting the gold for nothing. If this is successful I would want to do this on a regular basis and maybe partner up with players from other servers to run player generated quests for gold rewards!
